  • Hitmen lose season finale.

The Muskego Hitmen played their final regular season game against the Wauwatosa Spartans last Saturday at Wisconsin Lutheran College.  The game would have no bearing on either teams playoff seed, but would serve to give momentum to the winner heading into the IFL playoffs.  After a long stint at the Magic Kingdom, Muskego's youthful quarterback, Brent Staudt makes another appearance under center with a heart filled attempt to bring home a vicotory. The Hitmen offense would march down the field on the opening drive with a balance of run and pass, Staudt would connect with  Mike Liebert for an 8 yard touchdown strike.  After a missed extra point, the Hitmen would lead 6-0.  The Spartans would respond with a kick return out to the 50 yard line, and a scoring drive of their own.  They too would miss the extra point to tie the game at 6-6.  The Spartans would add another touchdown in the second quarter to make the score 13-6 going into half time.  Early in the 3rd quarter, Staudt would hook up with Liebert once again for a 15 yard touchdown.  Unfortunately, it would be the last score of the game for the Hitmen.  The Spartans would go on to score 18 unanswered points in the second half to come away with a 31-12 victory. We went into this game with a few goals in mind.  The first, was to win.  Unfortunately that didn't happen.  But the others were to stay healthy and work on some things.  For the most part, we accomplished those two.  We spread the ball around through the air, and cut way down on penalties.  Our special teams definitely needed some work, but we will address that in the coming weeks' practices.  We need to put this one behind us and get ready for the Venom.-Head Coach Jason Blawat The "Second Season" begins for the Hitmen on Sunday August 23rd, when they will travel to the Milwaukee Sports Complex to take on the rival Milwaukee Venom in round one of the IFL playoffs.  This time it will be the Hitmen who will look for a little revenge, as they dropped a heartbreaker to the Venom in the regular season 13-12.  The winner will move on to the NFC Conference Championship game and a chance to go to Ironbowl XIII.
