Hitmen Defense watched the past two weeks as the Offense was able to put up 127 points on their opponents. The Defense finally got on the board this week, accounting for 2 of the 3 Hitmen touchdowns in route to their first shutout of the 2012 season.
The potent Hitmen offense faced it's toughest test of the season in the Blue Devil defense. With passing yards at a premium, the Hitmen turned to their ground attack to establish momentum. Lead by JoJo Moore, the running game produced to the tune of 142 yards, highlighted by a 7 yard touchdown run by Russ Hochstaetter.
The Defense, in a "bend but don't break" mode, allowed a few big plays to the Blue Devils. However, they made up for it with tenacious, ball-hawking play that produced 4 turnovers. Leading the way for the Hitmen D was Safety Brandon Blawat, who led the team with 5 solo tackles, had an interception, and a forced fumble which he recovered himself to go 60 yards for a touchdown. Not to be outdone, Linebacker Corey Sticker notched 2 turnovers of his own in the form of 2 interceptions - one that he returned 63 yards for the score. Sticker also added a QB sack, along with one by Anthony Gilbert, and 2 by Joe Howard.
Next week the Hitmen will look to go to 4-0 heading into the bye week. To do so, they will have to get past arguably their toughest test - the St. Francis Monarchs. Game time is 6 pm at Inpro Stadium.
