Keep current on the latest upgrades to the site

i've got a couple ideas for some new stuff on the site. the current project on the drawing board is an upgrade to the video player on the site it will look the same, but it will be lighter weight in filesize about 1/3 the size. the current version is about 95kb( almost 1 mb).
this is just to load up the player itself. no screen shots, no video just and empty player.
it's a beast and on a dial up, very slow. right now the new version i'm working on is only 15kb, which makes it screamin fast. also will come support for hd! well, as hd as video on the web gets i suppose. so you will have the option to load a low, med, high & hd version of the video. the down side is that the hd vids take advantage of the h.264 codec, which is what they use for blueray disc and it is pretty cpu intensive. so if don't have a pretty powerful computer, it will probably push it to the max.
disclaimer: if your computer starts smoking and the room starts shaking...it's not my fault.
Upgrade 95% Done. Just need to fix the volume bar deal. Not too worried about it, I don't think too many people reall fuss with it anyway.
Check it out, let me know if you find any bugs with it. The HD button is only active if there is an HD video for the movie you are trying to watch. So if you can't click it, it is becuase you are not supposed to you.
I'll put up an HD sample file soon.
The message board video now available in HD! Load it up, and go full screen for all the high definition goodness
Got all of the stats from 2005 up on the site
Fixed the volume bar slider on the video player
Fixed message board ordering, topics should now be ordered by the most recent posts ( Harder than it sounds )
i think i fixed the bug on the login form pop-ups. You should now be able to hit enter. Not a big deal, but I always found my self hitting enter even though I knew I shouldn't. So I imagine it was pretty irritating for everyone else.
I opened team blogs back up. If at any time you feel the website should be updated with something new, feel free to make some updates ;)
Cooking up a section for career stats on everyone's profile page. It will display all of your stats by season. It's not the most accurate right now as there are some games missing in the database and I don't think anyone has entered the 2007 season in at all.
Still working out the kinks. The profile pages are already pretty loaded with stuff. I'll probably have to Ajax them to keep it fast. Also have to do a django update, which always scares me. Might get it done in a month or so. Here is a screenshot from my Dev set up at home:

So My favorite thing about football video games has always been the create - a - player. making the rookie, let them play a few years and see how their overall rating and attributes change based on how you play. I like seeing how playing with the different attributes affect your player depending on what position they play.
What if we could do that somehow with our website? Maybe not create players, but rate existing player attributes. rating player speed, strength, throwing accuracy all that jazz. Then you guys would be able to rate the players on the team. The lump sum of all of those ratings would be used to figure out a persons Overall Rating. You would be able to adjust the ratings as you see fit, but you can only have 1 rating set for any given player in a single season. You won't be able to rate yourself.
Right now it only exists as an idea on a piece of scratch paper....a lot of numbers and math. there would be an interface with sliders you can use to adjust the numbers ( like a video game ). And the roster page would also list a players overall rating... maybe some graphs so you can see ratings over the years. I think I can make it happen. Might take a while, but certainly possible.
JOHN MADDEN APP - Coming Soon!
Looking for some feedback on what you guys think are important skills/traits for your specific position ( alcohol tolerance does not count ) Here is what I have so far
General Player Attrib.
- speed
- agility
- stamina
- strength
- awareness
- hands/catching
- toughness
- injury prone
- aggression
- acceleration
General Offense Attrib.
- Run blocking
- pass blocking
- lead blocking
- break tackle
General Defense Attrib.
- Shed block
- beat dbl team
- tackling
- pass rush
- run stop
Position Specific
QB
- Throw accuracy
- Arm Strength
- Composure
- Scrambling
RB/FB
- Balance
- Elusiveness ( juking )
OL
- Blitz Pickup
LB/DB
- Blitzing
- Pass Coverage
- Bump Coverage
- Pursuit
DL
- Use of hands
- Stunt ability
- Play Recognition
K/P
- Leg Strength
- Kick Accuracy
- Punt Accuracy
each position can have 5 attributes, eventually each will be weighted based on the position - for example, catching would reflect the players overall rating for a WR more so than it would for an OL.
But would like some input as to what skill/attribute you think are important to each position if it is not here already.
